In this week's issue (Aug. 5)

We take a look back at a very successful summer baseball season at Canby and North Marion.

The Cougars' American Legion AAA baseball team defied the odds to reach the state tournament, despite drawing their talent from solely Canby High School students. Meanwhile, several other Legion teams find their talent from around their region to make up regional all-star teams. It is a great accomplishment for a program looking to rebuild after the loss of 10 seniors from last year's squad.

North Marion has also brought a new attitude, making the jump from the Junior State level to the American Legion AAA level under coach Randy Brack.

Just two weeks until the 103rd annual Clackamas County Fair & Rodeo takes place.

And three weeks until fall sports practices begin. Has it come so soon? This summer has certainly flown by.
