The first two days of the 52nd annual Canby Rodeo are in the books, and for me, it's been quite the interesting two days.
I've covered the Canby Rodeo the past few years, and one thing that's made it more enjoyable this year is the weather. It hasn't been quite as hot.
And the quality of contestants this year has been amazing so far for just the first two days. Several past and current world champions have strutted their stuff on the county fairgrounds in Canby, and it's been quite the joy to see this many quality contestants out here for the rodeo here in Canby.
They may not be around long, as after talking to them, most of them usually get in the very day they perform and leave immediately after. But they do appreciate the quality of the rodeo that the committee puts on here, which is why you see them keep coming back and number of contestants rise by about 30 percent compared to last year.
And if you've been to the first two performances, especially the first day, you'll find out that I was the one that was the target for jokes by the clown. We'll detail that in next Wednesday's edition of the Canby Herald.
It's made for some long days with the slack matinee performances beginning at 4 p.m. everyday, and the rodeo going on until 10:30 p.m. and waiting for the full results to come in thereafter, but the Canby Rodeo committee has done an excellent job so far with the way their main event is being run.
You can find results for Day 1
here and Day 2
here.
And full results and a recap of the 52nd annual Canby Rodeo will be in next week's edition of the Canby Herald.
