It’s official: Trost will be immersion school

The Canby School District board of directors approved designating Trost Elementary School a dual language immersion school.The change would send Trost students not in the DLI program to Carus Elementary School.

Carus Elementary School was the scene Feb. 13 for an epic battle of the pages.About 150 elementary and middle school students converged on Carus for the 2013 Oregon Battle of the Books district competition.

North Marion High School won the Feb. 12 Tri-Valley League Jazz Festival, which was hosted by North Marion and adjudicated by professional jazz bassist, Tom Wakeling.



Artistic award winners

A trio of Canby High School art students  won Silver Keys recently at the Oregon Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.   Scholastic is the most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the United States and is the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.



Area students eligible to get piece of county school scholarship pie

Last year the Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District offered two $1,000 scholarships, but at last week's Feb. 12 board meeting in Oregon City, elected officials approved two $2,000 scholarships for the 2013-14 school year.
