The Canby City Council will have a nice variety of candidates to choose from to fill Tony Helbling’s empty city council seat.
Friday’s deadline brought nine applications to fill the vacancy, a development that thrilled Mayor Melody Thompson.
“This is great,” she said. “It’s exciting to have this level of interest in this vacancy. I’m excited to further discuss the process next Wednesday at our regular council meeting.
“This shows an interest in the business and future of Canby and that’s a good sign,” she added.
Those looking to fill the slot are:
Loren Hamar
, general manager-pastor of Connection Central.
Randy Carson
, purchasing manager for
Columbia Helicopter.
Greg Parker
, communications and management consultant.
Richard Ares
, retired. Former president and general manager of Canby Telcom.
Dawn Depner
, financial advisor.
Robert Backstrom
, retired school administrator.
Brian Hodson
, retail manager and small business owner.
Kenneth Rider
, retired.
Gregory Perez
, skills trainer at Canby School District.
