Slowly and methodically, light blue eyes poured over every inch of the car, taking in the look and feel.
Stan Rollins didn’t want to miss anything as he alternately surveyed the exterior and interior of a 1967 Mustang in the early moments of Canby’s Big Weekend Saturday.

Taking care not to touch anything, he took it all in, first only inches away, then backing up to get the full picture. His verdict.

“She’s a beauty,” he said. “Had one just like her when I was in high school and to this day I regret getting rid of that car.”

Rollins wasn’t alone as the streets around Wait Park bustled with men, women and children of all ages looking at an assortment of vintage and unique cars that make the term eclectic seem tame.
Rollins, who lives in Milwaukie, loves it.

“I Got a News Tip?discovered this one about three years ago and I circle the date every year on the calendar,” he said with a sweep of his arm. “Look around -- it’s just a car-lover’s paradise. And brother, I’ve always loved cars.”

He wasn’t alone. Big Weekend attracted hundreds of visitors to downtown Canby and the cars, as always, were the stars.

Brandon Wooters, chairman of Canby Rotary’s Big Weekend barbecue, said the show boasted 500 cars this year and that the Rotary expected to sell up to 1,600 hamburgers before the day was out.
