Canby Quizno's reopens

After months with its doors closed, Canby Quizno’s is back.

Matt Smith, who owns and operates a Quizno’s in Oregon City, has expanded the operation and reopened the old Quizno’s in Canby.

“The area rep (for Quizno’s) knew I was a good owner-operator and that I wanted to grow with the company,” said Smith. “I decided that this was something I wanted to do.”

Smith plans few changes to the Quizno’s operation, he said, noting that the company has fairly stringent guidelines for running a franchise. Smith’s role in reopening the Canby store took a couple of months to sort out, he said.

“Canby seems like a close-knit community and I think it’s still a growing community,” he said. “This end of town has grown quite a bit in the last five years.”

Quizno’s in Canby officially opened its doors last week and Smith said he sees plenty of potential to make a go of it.

“I definitely think it has great potential,” Smith said. “Hopefully, business will continue to expand and the economy will get better. I think that’s going to happen soon, so we’ll see.”

Canby Quizno’s is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The store won’t offer delivery service, but will do catering and to-go orders.
