Preferred option for the new Canby Public Library shows a 21,600 square-foot new building, a 1,000 square-foot lobby connecting the library to the old city hall building, the 2,700 square-foot city hall (to be renovated as new city council chambers/community center, and a parking lot on the site of the former police station. Arrows show traffic flow through the alley for book drop.
Mayor Randy Carson cast the deciding vote Wednesday night, giving Canby a new library.An estimated 70 people showed up for the nearly four-hour-long Urban Renewal Agency meeting, with 18 people giving testimony.
