An unidentified man tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car with the promise of an ice cream cone about 3 p.m. Wednesday as she walked from school along Highway 99E in Canby.Police said the girl was walking alone from Ackerman Middle School to meet her father at his place of business, T-Line Design, Inc. 158 SW First Ave.She was nearly to her father’s store when a silver Honda slowed to a stop beside her and the driver called her over to the car, the girl said.

The Canby School District has installed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) unit in every district building. The American Heart Association recommends that defibrillation be performed within two minutes of cardiac arrest.
